Status Yellow thunderstorm warnings have been issued for a number of counties including Cavan and Monaghan.
The warning is valid in Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon from 7am to 5pm tomorrow (Thursday).
Met Éireann is warning of localised flooding, lightning damage, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions in the Northern Sound region.
The rest of Ireland, apart from Mayo and Galway will have similar warnings over the next day.
The warning for Cork, Clare, Limerick and Kerry is already in place..
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather outlines the potential impact. "Thunderstorms can cause a number of issues. Hail is one that can cause big problems for visibility and also create slippy surfaces. Also then you could get some flash flooding with some really torrential downpours and then obviously the thunder and lightning with a risk of power outages."
