A Status Orange wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo tomorrow, when storm Amy is due to make landfall.
A similar orange level rain warning is currently in place in Kerry until 8pm this evening.
And a status yellow rain alert is also in effect for the rest of Munster, as well as Connacht, Cavan, Donegal and Longford. Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel says there are already concerning reports of flooding in some areas.
Storm Amy will affect Ireland on Friday and it will become very windy or stormy. Heavy rain will develop in the morning. Strong to gale force and gusty south to southwest winds will develop, reaching storm force in coastal areas of west and northwest Ulster, and gradually veer southwest through the day. Severe and potentially damaging gusts will occur widely. Later in the day, rain will clear to scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 16 or 17 degrees.
