Following the success of Monaghan County Council’s first Affordable Purchase Scheme at Station View in Monaghan Town in recent months.
The local authority are conducting a survey to assess the level of interest in an Affordable Purchase scheme in Carrickmacross. The scheme sees Monaghan County Council make new, local homes available for purchase to First Time Buyers and Fresh Start applicants at reduced prices.
Applicants must obtain a maximum mortgage from a lender and have a 10% deposit. Monaghan County Council will take a percentage equity share in your home equal to the difference between the open market value of the home and the reduced price paid.
This means that if you buy a home at a 20% reduction on the open market value, Monaghan County Council will have a 20% equity share in your home. This equity share can be bought back.
Cllr PJ O Hanlon is encouraging anyone in the wider Carrickmacross area to complete the survey for these proposed new homes in the town.
