5pm today marks the closing date for the affordable housing survey in Carrickmacross.
Following the success of Monaghan County Council's first Affordable Purchase Schemes in Station View in Monaghan Town, the local authority is now conducting a survey to assess the level of interest in an Affordable Purchase scheme in Carrickmacross.
The Affordable Purchase Scheme sees Monaghan County Council make new, local homes available for purchase to First Time Buyers and Fresh Start applicants at reduced prices, whose combined mortgage and deposit will not cover the market price of the newly built home. Applicants must obtain a maximum mortgage from a lender and have a 10% deposit.
Monaghan County Council will take a percentage equity share in your home equal to the difference between the open market value of the home and the reduced price paid. This means that if you buy a home at a 20% reduction on the open market value, Monaghan County Council will have a 20% equity share in your home. This equity share can be bought back.
