A Co Monaghan councillor is calling on the Minister for Transport and the National Transport Authority as well as Bus Eireann to take immediate action to address growing accessibility issues that are facing digital users.
Cllr Sinead Flynn wants to see the urgent introduction of a telephone based booking system.
This will allow passengers to secure seats on bus services without having to go online.
The local representative warned that older people in our communities feel like they have been left behind, as many cannot access the online booking system.
Cllr Flynn said she was contacted by one constituent who was left stranded on a number of occasions due to the bus already being full by the time it got to Monaghan, and therefore he was unable to make important hospital appointments in Dublin.
