Monaghan County Council has been given the green light to proceed with its Affordable Purchase Scheme for first time buyers.
Minister for Housing James Brown confirmed the news to Monaghan Senator Robbie Gallagher this week.
Under the Affordable Purchase Scheme local authorities will make newly built homes available at a reduced price for first-time and other eligible buyers who cannot afford to purchase a home at its open market value
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher revealed that ten houses have been earmarked under this scheme.
According to Senator Gallagher the properties will be located in Station View in Monaghan Town and will offer an "exciting opportunity" for those who don't qualify for social housing.
