"Tourism is on the rise in Bailieboro."
That's according to Adam Pringle who is the Cultural & Tourism Officer Adam at The Bailieboro Bridewell.
The Bailieboro Bridewell Centre is a thriving community hub and provides a compelling insight into the history of Bridewells in 19th century Ireland.
Mr Pringle says there is a tourism element to a new mural which was recently completed which includes a sign post that points to various historical sites in the area.
He highlighted the importance of this with tourism on the rise not only in Bailieboro but across Co Cavan as a whole.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the local cultural officer believes tourism is going to become more prominent and it's important for the community of Bailieboro to grasp that opportunity.
He says there is a huge diaspora within Bailieboro itself and it's important to encourage these people to come and visit their home place:
Mr Pringle believes that if an eco-system is built in the town to support this industry, it will help the local area and will introduce people to the history that they are apart of too.
