A genealogist from Washington says the experience of tracing her roots back to Monaghan has been 'magical.'
A gathering hosted by the Treanor group in the Mtek building took place this week about connecting people to the country through their DNA.
Kathy Weber, who is based in Seattle, was able to locate her genealogy by analysing a series of birth, death and family documents. She travelled to Monaghan, where she found the home of her second great grandmother, who left the county 158 years ago.
Kathy says she is working on finding the next generation back.
