A Co Cavan based doctor who helped and treated countless patients from all over Ireland has been remembered as "a fantastic doctor and an even finer gentleman".
Dr Louis Bernard Daniel Courtney KM passed away peacefully on Monday at his home and will be laid to rest this afternoon in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry.
Dr Louis served as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Co. Cavan since 1972
Tributes have been pouring in since news of the Tipperary man’s passing was confirmed.
One post online described his as a was a wonderful doctor and gynaecologist that saved so many lives.
Another said he lived a full and generous life and touched so many people through his work and for being a strong and memorable character,
While on behalf of the current and past staff in the Maternity Department in Cavan General, they wished to express their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Dr Louis Courtney.
They said his dedication and commitment to Women's and Infants health during his years was exceptional and his legacy will long be remembered.
