Monaghan County Council has been shortlisted in two categories at the LAMA All Ireland Community & Council Awards.
The categories are 'Best Community – Scale Enhancements' for the Dromore Mapping Project.
This was a collaborative initiative mapping the Dromore River catchment to protect biodiversity, address historic data gaps, and create an accessible digital resource for education and long term environmental management.
The second category is for the 'Local Authority Energy Decarbonisation Award'. Monaghan was recognised for its innovation in road maintenance through a low carbon approach trialling cold mix reclaimed asphalt to strengthen road networks while reducing emissions and supporting national climate action targets.
Monaghan County Council says this is "great recognition" of community focused innovation and sustainable practice across the county.
