An update was sought in the Dail in relation to a swimming pool in Carrickmacross.
Deputy Matt Carthy has asked the government what steps Monaghan County Council should take to secure funding for a swimming pool in Carrickmacross.
The Department of Culture, Communications and Sport says no applications have been received for a pool there.
Funding is available through the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund, but it is currently closed to applications.
In repsonse, the Department encouraged local authorities to prepare for future funding rounds, using published guidelines.
It noted that the recent national swimming strategy and pool gap analysis will be used to guide future investment decisions.
