"Significant progress" in the delivery of domestic violence refuge centres in Cavan and Monaghan has been noted by a local TD.
Matt Carthy raised the question, on behalf of his colleague Cathy Bennett in the Dail this week.
The question was put to Minister Jim O'Callaghan about the timeline for the delivery in refuges in Cavan and Monaghan.
The Minister noted that an interim safe house to fit five families will be available in Monaghan later this year.
Matt Carthy noted the significant progress that has happened on this topic since he was first elected as a TD as it was not even recognised as a need back then.
Speaking in the Dail, Matt Carthy outlined the importance of having a centre in every county, noting the geographical distance between parts of Cavan and Monaghan.
Minister Jim O'Callaghan noted that domestic violence is complex issue that needs a much deeper look.
