The school secretaries and caretakers strike is gaining momentum throughout the country and they are gaining more support each day from TDs and councillors.
That's the view from the workers and supporters that were gathered this afternoon at a picket in Kingscourt.

A number of school secretaries and caretakers came from the Cavan and Meath areas as well as parents and pupils from surrounding local schools. The main teaching unions have joined forces to call for urgent talks to end the strikes by school secretaries and caretakers.
In a joint statement issued by the TUI, INTO and ASTI say that after a week of disruption its clear schools are struggling to operate as normal. Majella Kelly, School Secretary at St Joseph's NS in Kingscourt says they just want to be back at school.

She says more and more people are finding out about why they are protesting and with that awareness support is building. Majella says in school, students are taught equality and fairness and that should be afforded to all the staff too.
