Works are progressing on new school in Castleblayney.
Gaelscoil Lorgan in Castleblayney will see a brand new school being built on a green field site on the the Shercock Road in the town.
The school which has over 140 students enrolled is currently in an industrial estate and after years of campaigning for a new school, contracts were signed on the €7.5 million investment in 2024.
The state of the art eight-classroom school building and two special education teaching rooms. is now at a advanced stage in the contruction process.
According to local senator Robbie Gallagher, it's great news for the area and the school will help to promote the Irish language for generations to come in the area.
It's understood the new school will open later this year.
