A status yellow weather warning has been issued for the Northern Sound region from this afternoon.
According to Met Éireann, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop from this afternoon into the evening, with localised downpours leading to poor driving conditions.
The brunt of the storm is expected to hit border counties such as Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and Fermanagh, where flooding and disruption will be expected.

Motorists are advised to remain 'cautious' when driving, as the weather warning will stay in place until 9pm tonight.
