Young man killed in workplace incident named locally

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified of the fatal incident.

The young man who lost his life following a workplace incident in Kingscourt yesterday morning has been named locally.

25 year old Jack Mcllroy from Nobber died from injuries sustained at a premises yesterday morning on the Carrickmacross Rd in the town. He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was later pronounced dead.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified of the fatal incident and an investigation has been launched. Tributes have been paid to the young man who was secretary of the Electro Celtic soccer club.

A statement from the club expressed "extreme sadness" at hearing the tragic news. They said Jack was only 25 years old and took on the role of Secretary at his club last year due to his passion for soccer and brought a level of professionalism to the role in his time as club secretary, and took on many roles within his club.

The club said their immediate thoughts and prayers are with his parents Alan and Deirdre, his family, friends, team mates and all at Electro Celtic football club during this sad time.
