Calls to increase 'Active Travel' funding in Monaghan. Monaghan County Council are writing to the National Transport Authority. They are seeking an increase in their annual funding allocation for the Active Travel Scheme. Indeed, Cllr Sean Conlon, Sinn Fein, raised the matter at the most recent local authority meeting.
Furthermore, since the introduction of the Active Travel Scheme four year ago; funding has been "inadequate" towards rural counties like Monaghan. That is according to Cllr Conlon. Jodie Curran spoke with him in relation to the matter:
