Monaghan footballer Bobby McCaul is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Aughnamullen clubman ruptured his cruciate ligament in last weekend's loss to Mayo in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
Manager Gabriel Bannigan says the youngster has been a "special weapon" this year; and he's "gutted" to be without him for the rest of the campaign.
McCaul had only returned to football this year after suffering a similiar injury while playing for the U20's in 2025. He had been increasing his game time since making an appearance against Derry in the Ulster semi-final.
Indeed, McCaul registered 1-1 when introduced at half-time last Sunday, before picking up the injury while moving to pick up on a loose ball.
