Busy weekend of GAA action

Hurling finals and 2nd round of football championship to look forward too

It is a busy weekend of GAA action to look forward to with hurling finals in Croke Park and the 2nd round of the All Ireland series in Football. First up from a Northern Sound perspective will be the hurlers of Cavan as they look to lift in Silverware in Croke park when they contest the Lory Meagher cup final tomorrow at 3pm. New York who are only playing their 2nd ever game in the competition provide the opposition after overcoming Monaghan in the semi final last weekend. Cavan topped the group with 4 wins and secured a spot in the decider. We will have live coverage of that final on Saturday sport.

On the footballing front both Monaghan and Cavan are in action on Sunday. At 2pm Cavan welcome the Ulster champions Donegal to Kingspan Breffni with both sides having differing results in the opening round. It was expected that the home side would be without points while the provincial title holders would have an eye on a direct path to a quarter final. However Raymond Galligan's side produced the surprise of round 1 with a win over Mayo in Castlebar while Donegal suffered a defeat to Tyrone in Ballybofey. We will have live coverage of that game with thanks to Brady's, Dublin Road, Cavan - the new home of Kia. Elsewhere in that group Tyrone will face Mayo in O'Neills Healy Park Omagh.

Monaghan will be looking to make it back to back wins when the host Clare in St Tiernachs Park Clones at 4pm. Gabriel Bannigan's side overcame the newly crowned Leinster champions Louth by 6 points in Newbridge with the manager noting that having a fully fit panel is a major plus in their preparations

We will have coverage of that fixture with thanks to Packie Willes Bar - The Diamond Clones.

The other game in that group will see Down welcoming Louth to Newry. Elsewhere in the championship, Kerry make the short trip to Cork for a Munster derby, while Meath are in Dr Hyde park to face Roscommon. Galway are in Celtic park to take on Galway while Croke Park is the setting for Dublin and Armagh
