Cavan scored a one point win over Donegal to begin their Ulster minor football championship campaign.
Early points from Jay Graham and Conor McCabe gave Cavan the early lead. This was extended on eight minutes when Oisin Smith found the back of the Donegal net.
Evan Duffy replied with a goal for Donegal on 19 minutes reducing the deficit to four. Cavan led 1-6 to 1-2.
Hugo Morgan and Jay Graham added further scores for Cavan before half-time as they took a four point lead into the break, leading 1-C8 to 1-4.
Donegal started the second half strongly and had their second goal of the afternoon after 45 minutes when Tadhg McDaid found the target.
Jay Graham got Cavan’s second goal seven minutes later, reinstating a three point lead for the home side.
Donegal hit two points inside the final five minutes but the home side held out for a hard fought victory in round one of the Ulster Minor Championship.
Cavan running out one point winners, 2-13 to 2-12.
