Cavan Cricket Club was founded in 2017, quickly become one of the most inspiring success stories in Irish cricket.
Initially competing in the Connacht Cricket Leagues, the club faced closure during the COVID-19 pandemic due to financial constraints.
However, in 2022, following the tireless efforts of its members, the club was revived with a renewed vision.
Last year seen the club make their debut in the Cricket Leinster Open Competitions, entering Division 14.
The team’s comeback was nothing short of historic. Winning 12 out of 13 matches to clinch the Division 14 title and reaching the T20 Cup semi-finals.
Following on from that success the club expanded in 2025 to field two senior teams:
- Team 1 (Division 12): Unbeaten with 7 wins from 7 matches
- Team 2 (Division 20): Unbeaten with 5 wins from 5 matches
The club is committed to youth development and this year they launched the “Smash It” Cricket Summer Camp, introducing cricket to over 50 local children.
Plans are in place to establish a dedicated youth team by the 2026 season, laying the foundation for long-term success and sustainability.
To date, Cavan Cricket Club has been entirely self-funded, with occasional support from local vendors.
The club currently does not have a permanent home ground and is working with the local rugby club to secure a shared facility.
To continue their positive momentum, particularly in youth training, equipment and infrastructural development. Cavan Cricket Club is actively seeking sponsorship partners.
