Emyvale will be playing Intermediate football once again in 2026 after they comprehensively sealed the Monaghan junior title
Enyvale scoring an 11-point win over Sean McDermott’s in Scotstown.
It was the favourites Emyvale who took an early lead. Striking the first meaningful score in the fourth minute when Stephen Askin found the back of the net.
Emyvale had the foundation in place to kick-on and dominate and that’s exactly what they did. A point from Matthew Finn opening up an eight-point advantage for them with 10 minutes to play in the first-half.
That advantage did appear to show signs of vulnerability at the beginning of the second-half but Emyvale recorded their second goal of the game through Andrew Stewart to halt any momentum that Sean’s had built up.
However, Sean McDermott’s fought back, and got themselves back within five points midway through the second-half.
However, after some personnel changes, Emyvale kicked-on once more. Getting their side of the scoreboard ticking over once again as Askin, Karl Gallagher and Niall McKenna helped open up a 11-point lead.
A lead which they did not lose, as Emyvale return to intermediate football for 2026 in comfortable fashion.
Emyvale scored a 2-22 to 1-14 victory to land the Monaghan junior title.
