A tight encounter saw Cavan and Ulster champions Knockbride prevail by the bare minimum over Naomh Aban of Cork.

A low scoring opening period saw the first score arriving after 15 minutes, Abbi Connor putting her side ahead.

It was Abbi Connor who got her sides second of the day on 27 minutes, slotting over a free. That proved to be the closing score of a tight first-half, as Knockbride took a two-point lead to the break.

At half-time Knockbride led, 0-2 to 0-0.

Cliona Ni Mhochain got the Naomh Aban up and running after 32 minutes when she fired over the Knockbride crossbar.

Two minutes later it was Ni Mhochain again who raised the white flag, drawing proceedings level. After 34 minutes the sides were tied at 0-02 to 0-02.

Gia McCabe gave Knockbride the lead after 46 minutes when fired over from play, as the game was still very much in the balance.

However, Ellie Reilly got the next score of the game, which proved to be the final soccer of the afternoon as her Knockbride side booked their place in the Intermediate All Ireland Final.

Knockbride running out two point winners at St Brigid’s Park, 0-4 to 0-2.
