The Westeners made the most of the wind on their backs in the first half

Former Monaghan coach and current Mayo manger Andy Moran says his sides decision to play with the wind was crucial in Sundays win over the Farney side. The Westeners had nineteen points to spare over the homeside in St Tiernachs Park with the game played in wet and windy conditions

The result leaves Monaghan rooted to the bottom of Division One. Other results in the Divison  seen Kerry overcome Dublin, Donegal remain unbeaten as they accounted for Armagh while Roscommon looked to have secured their divisional status for 2027 when they defeated Galway
