Monaghan have named their side to face Down in the final group 3 game in the All Ireland series. Rory Beggan takes up his usual berth between the posts with Ryan Wylie, Kieran Duffy and Dylan Byrne in the full back line. Ryan O'Toole, Dessie Ward and Conor Mc Carthy make up the half back line with the Scotstown pairing of Michael Mc Carville and Gavin Mc Phillips at the centre of the field. Stephen O'Hanlon, Michael Bannigan and Ryan Mc Anespie are in the half forward line with Jack Mc Carron, Andrew Woods and Stephen Mooney completing the starting 15. There is no Gary Mohan who appears to have failed to recover from a knock picked up in the win over Clare.
The action in Group 3 gets underway on Sunday at 2pm with Monaghan and Down going head to head in the Box It Athletic grounds where a win for either side will secure a last 8 spot with a draw also enough for the Mourne men to take the quarter final place. The 2 teams met in the last game of the league with Conor Laverty's side coming out on top but still suffered relegation from division 2 while Monaghan gained promotion Regular GAA pundit Kieran Kerans does not believe the Farney side will use that loss as any form of motivation
We will have live coverage of that game on Sunday sport with thanks to Packie Willies Bar - the Diamond Clones
