Six goals in total as Truagh take win

Truagh Gaels kicked off their 2025 Monaghan SFC campaign with an eight point victory over Cremartin in St. Mellan’s Park.

This was followed up by a point by Oran McElligot and a pair of scores for Luke McKenna.

Gaels managed to keep their opponents at arm’s length. James McKenna and Sean O’Connell getting on the scoresheet for the first time.

However, after Cremartin provided a strong fightback which saw them take the lead for the first time. Gaels found their equaliser as the sides went into the break level.

Truagh came out strong in the second-half and provided a signal of intent as they recorded the first couple of scores of the half including a Darren O’Neill two-pointer.

Cremartin got back within three points following a goal from the penalty spot. However, that hope was short-lived as Sean O’Connell found the back of the net to open up a six-point gap.

A Chris McKenna two-pointer made the score line very healthy for Truagh, who held on for the win despite a third Cremartin goal with six minutes remaining.
