Cavan go out of Dr Mc Kenna cup

The Breffni side suffered a 2nd defeat away to Fermanagh

Cavan suffered a 2nd defeat in the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup last night (Thursday) away to Fermanagh in Tempo. The Breffni side lead by 1-07 to 7 points at the break with their goal coming from Caoimhin McGovern, however a goal for the homeside in the early stages of the 2nd half seen them draw level before they pulled ahead and held out for the 2 point victory. The loss means Cavan's interest in the competition is now over with their attention turning to the opening game in Divison 2 of the Allianz league, which is away to Cork at the end of the month.

Fermanagh and Monaghan will meet in the final group game on Sunday with the winner set to progress to the knock out stages. A draw will also do the Farney side as they have a better scoring difference. That one throws in at Castleblayney at 1:30. Elsewhere in the competition last night, Armagh were 3-10 to 10 point winners over Down while Derry overcame Antrim by 2-16 to 7 points
