Ballyjamesduff native Jake Doyle-Hayes has completed a deadline loan move to Cambridge United until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old midfielder, Irish under-19 international, has left Aston Villa as he goes in search of first team experience.
Doyle-Hayes has played three times for the Villa first team, once this season, a Carabao Cup win over Yeovil Town back in August.
“He is a young man who I believe will develop into a very good player, and having seen him train before is extremely capable,” explained Cambridge boss Colin Calderwood, who knows Doyle-Hayes from his days as assistant manager at Aston Villa.
The Cavan man is contracted to Villa until the summer of 2020.
