Gary Jennings and Rory Kennedy in their Subaru Impreza WRC took a start to finish victory in the Corrib Oil Galway International rally, after their main challenger, Declan and Brian Boyle had mechanical gremlins on the opening day forcing them to retire their fiesta WRC.
2nd place went to the current national champions Roy white and James O brien also in a Fiesta WRC with Alastair Fisher completing the top 3 in his Fiesta R5 and taking the top championship points.
It was a mixed event for the local crews competing with Sam Moffett taking 4th overall and the runner up championship points in his Combilift backed fiesta with brother Josh 7th overall having suffered a puncture on the opening day that dropped him down the classification.
Robert Barrable with Monaghans Damien Connolly on the notes were 5th overall with Stephen Wright and Arthur Kierans 6th both those crews also in R5 Fiestas.
In the national section, a brilliant drive on the last 2 stages of the event by Gary Kiernan with Keith Moriarty on the notes in the Class 14 Mark II Escort seen them take victory from Damien Tourish/Domhnall McAlaney in the Class 13 escort with Kevin Eves/William Lynch completing the top 3 in their Toyota corolla twin cam.
After the opening round of the Clonakilty Black pudding Irish tarmac championship, Alastair Fisher tops the table with maximum points with Sam Moffett 2nd and Robert Barrable 3rd.
