A 2nd place finish for Josh Moffett and Stephen Thornton at the Moonraker forestry rally in Cork on Saturday was enough for the Combilift backed crew to take maximum points in the Irish forestry championship as the overall winner Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin are not registered for the championship.
Josh who was competing in the Ford Fiesta R5 had 4 seconds to spare over his brother Sam who completed the top 3 in the Ford Fiesta WRC and had James Fulton on the notes.
David Crossan and Damien Fleming were the top modified crew in their Mark II escort taking 12 overall 35 seconds ahead of Michael Conlon and Ciaran Mc Phillips also in an Escort who were 14th overall, their push for top modified honours not helped with a puncture on stage 6.
Derek Mackeral and Daire Hayes who were as high as 4th overall in the modified field and 2nd in the Junior class, were forced to retire due to engine problems on stage 4.
The next round of the championship is in Donegal on May 13th.
