Juggling Council duties and a full time job can be difficult says Cavan Councillor

A Cavan Councillor who is stepping down from his position says it’s difficult to juggle Council duties and a full time job.

This week Eugene Greenan submitted his letter of resignation to the County’s Chief Executive, which takes effect from Friday.  He’s the second local Councillor to resign in the past month, with Fine Gael’s Ciara McPhillips resigning from Monaghan County Council recently, citing time constraints.

While Eugene Greenan says employer allowed him to be flexible with his working hours, he believes that it’s more difficult for people in certain careers to commit to such a demanding position.
