Justice Minister condemns reports of IRA patrols close to Cavan-Fermanagh border

The Justice Minister has said there’s “no place for sinister and menacing behaviour” after reports the continuity IRA is carrying out patrols on the Cavan-Fermanagh border.

The PSNI says it’s aware of images of masked men in the area being shared on social media but it says it’s received no reports.

The images show two masked men holding handguns in the Wattlebridge area and it’s believed they are members of the Continuity IRA.

It’s close to the area where a bomb exploded last August after Police responded to a separate hoax device.

Investigations into that incident are continuing.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has condemned the latest incident and said “the rule of law must prevail”.

He’s urged anyone with information to contact Gardaí or the PSNI.
