‘Treating vaping products in the same way as cigarettes will do more harm than good.’
That’s according to Alan Buckley, spokesperson for Vaping business Ireland speaking following the implementation yesterday of new regulations on vaping and e-cigarettes.
In 2001 the EU released laws with the aim of cutting smoking across the continent with the rules initially only applying to cigarettes.
In 2014 however, the rules changed to include e-cigarettes, classifying them as an ‘additional tobacco related product’.
New regulations include a maximum tank capacity of 2ml, the banning of certain additives and advertising restrictions.
