This weekend athletes from the Cavan/Monaghan region are on representative duties, Niamh Mc Corry of Annalee is part of a small team of athletes from NI & Ulster that are in Manchester for the English U17 & U15 Combined Events Championships.
Niamh competes in the U17 Heptathlon, 7 events across two days with the first event the 80m Hurdles getting things underway just before noon tomorrow.
In Dublin, Glaslough Harriers athlete Ava Ross who has been in a rich vein of form lately winning a National Age Group title and finishing 2nd in the Schools International, pulls on the Green vest of Ireland again this weekend as she competes in 2000m Walk at the Nations Cup at the Morton Stadium, Santry tomorrow (Saturday).
And finally congratulations to Amy Jo Kierans and Kate Donahue on podium finish’s in their events at the Pre Program of the Belfast International Meet at the Mary Peters Track yesterday evening (Friday).
The main program seen Olympic, World and European Medalists compete so it was great for the young athletes to show case their talent earlier in the evening. Amy Jo had an excellent run in the Junior 800m finishing 2nd in a superb time of 2:20.02 while Kate took third in the Intermediate 100m in 12.93.
