Local authorities in Cavan and Monaghan cut down over 100 trees in the last 18 months

Local authorities in Cavan and Monaghan cut down over 110 trees in the last 18 months.

The Irish Times reports Monaghan County Council cut down 106, one of 13 councils to cut down more than 100.

Cavan County Council cut down 13.

The majority of local authorities said they were removed for health and safety reasons or after storm damage.

In total, 7,125 trees were cut down by councils across Ireland since 2018.
