Local Chief Superintendent says some are “posing a serious risk” by not listening to HSE advice

A minority in Cavan and Monaghan are “posing a serious risk” to themselves and others by not listening to advice on preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Local Chief Superintendent John O’Reilly has thanked people for the measures they are taking but said Gardaí have now been given the power to intervene if it’s warranted.

Eleven probationary Gardaí have been deployed to Cavan and Monaghan and shift changes mean more Garda members will be available for policing duties.

Gardaí across the two counties are also working to help people who are in isolation by collecting groceries or prescriptions where possible.
