Local councillor again hits out at poor RTE signal

‘It’s not fair that local people are paying their TV licences but aren’t receiving the full service’.

That was the call of Independent councillor Seamus Treanor who raised the issue of poor RTE signal at the most recent Monaghan Municipal District meeting.

In response to the council’s query about the deteriorating signal in Monaghan town, the Commission for Communications Regulation stated that this disruption is usually caused by a phenomenon known as Radio Frequency Overload.

This can be prevented they say, by installing a number of devices such as a stand-alone LTE filter or a masthead amplifier.

Councillor Treanor says that people shouldn’t have to pay for a service that simply isn’t working:
