A Monaghan Councillor has spoken of his shock after someone purporting to be him scammed a local family out of €100.
The woman, who’s asked to remain anonymous, sent a €100 cheque to a Dublin address after she was called by a man who said he was independent Councillor Paudge Connolly and was looking for subscriptions to a fundraising draw.
However, Paudge Connolly has told Northern Sound News that he had no involvement.
He says he’s gobsmacked by the incident.
