Local drug awareness group seeing increase in cocaine use

The local drug and alcohol service says it has seen an increase in the number of people using cocaine.

It comes as addiction therapist with Cuan Mhuire Michael Guerin has claimed young people are budgeting for cocaine for their school debs.

He says cocaine is becoming a part of the debs night.

The Health Research Board has said there’s been an increase of 50 per cent in the number of people seeking treatment for cocaine usage.

Tim Murphy of the Cavan Monaghan Drug and Alcohol Service says it too has seen an increase in the number of people seeking help for drug abuse.
