Local drugs and alcohol service calls for increased funding to deal with referrals

The numbers of people accessing the Cavan and Monaghan Drugs and Alcohol Service has been on the increase.

Its co-ordinator, Tim Murphy, is calling for more resources to deal with the increase.

He said that the group has received 200 referrals so far in 2019.

A lack of resources means that some people are left on a waiting list for weeks after presenting themselves for help.
