Local farmers are being encouraged to embrace the use of drone technology on their land.
Dr Tim McCarthy from Maynooth University was speaking after €25 million was announced for six projects through the SFI Research Infrastructure Programme.
The projects, launched by local Minister Heather Humphreys today in Carrickmacross, will allow researchers to meet evolving challenges with cutting-edge infrastructure.
Dr McCarthy’s project is the National Autonomous Technologies Data Platform, which would see new technology such as drones be accessed by a much wider community.
Speaking to Northern Sound News, Tim McCarthy explained how farmers can benefit from agricultural drones.
