Local Gardaí will be short ten squad cars come the end of this year.
That was the message of Chief Superintendent John O’Reilly at a recent Monaghan Joint Policing Committee Meeting.
He said that the division received two cars in the past two months.
One of these vehicles went to Carrickmacross, while the other went to Cavan because they had received no new cars within the last nine months.
The division is already short two cars and eight cars will be out of service by the end of the year.
Fianna Fáíl Councillor Raymond Aughey told Northern Sound News that this “is a really bad indictment of where we are”.
