Alan Kelly is the best candidate for the Labour leadership.
That’s according to local Labour activist Liam Van der Spek, who unsuccessfully ran in February’s general election.
However, while Van der Spek is backing Alan Kelly, he says Aodhán Ó Ríordáin is a high-quality candidate that he would be happy with.
He added that there was still a “space for the Labour party in the future of Irish politics”, despite the party suffering what Van der Spek called “the worst election in nearly a century”.
