Local libraries are to receive over €300,000 in extra funding.
The Department of Community and Rural Development has made the allocation under the new Library Strategy launched by the Government.
It’ll see €188,000 in funding for Monaghan libraries, with another €123,000 for those in Cavan.
It’ll be used to buy iPads, tablets and computers, as well as Dementia Tables to facilitate learning for people with dementia and those with intellectual disabilities.
The funding’s being welcomed by local Senator Joe O’Reilly and Minister Heather Humphreys, who’s described it as “an exciting new chapter for public libraries in Monaghan and Cavan”.
