Local Parkinson’s sufferer says before cannabis oil every day was a struggle

A Monaghan man suffering with Parkinson’s says that before cannabis oil, every day of his life was a struggle.

Martin was diagnosed with the illness several years ago and says that with the diagnoses, it became almost impossible for him to do basic tasks like talk or walk.

Last week, cannabis products became available on prescription in Northern Ireland and the UK following an ongoing, high profile campaign.

In the republic, the medicinal cannabis access programme that was promised two years ago by Simon Harris, has yet to be rolled out.

The delay is being blamed on difficulty in finding a quality assured supplier of cannabis and one that can export its products to Ireland.
