Local poultry farmers to be worst affected by Mercosur trade deal

Local poultry farmers are set to be worst affected by Mercosur trade deal.

IFA Poultry Chair Andy Boylan said the importation of 180,000 tonnes of extra poultry would have a devastating impact on the poultry industry in Cavan and Monaghan.

It follows concern over the impact the deal would have on the Irish beef sector and on the environment.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Andy Boylan said the affect it would have on chicken farmers in Cavan and Monaghan has gone under the radar.
