Local rents described as “value for money” despite another big increase

Cavan and Monaghan have seen another big jump in monthly rents.

The latest DAFT report shows that prices rose around the country by 13.5 per cent in the year 2016.

The national average monthly rent now stands at a new high of €1,100 per month.

The highest increase was in the capital where people are paying an extra 15-and-a-half per cent.

Cavan saw an increase of 12.6 per cent and now stands at an average of €608 per month.

Meanwhile, the average rent in Monaghan is €642, an increase of 10.7 per cent.

James Spring of Peter Donohue’s Real Estate Agents in Ballyconnell believes the current monthly rent seen in Cavan and Monaghan is value for money.
