Local school making a name for itself at BT Young Scientist Exhibition

Although the winners of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition are being announced later today, there has already been some good news for one local school.

Despite only opening its doors two years ago, Dún an Rí College in Kingscourt has 7 projects entered in the exhibition.  That’s the most projects entered from any other local school, and ranks them 10th out of the 236 schools at this year’s BT Young Scientist for entries.  Principal Fergal Boyle says the school puts a lot of emphasis on STEM subjects, and preparing its students for the future.

The final day of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition is completely sold out.  Organisers are advising people not to attend the event at the RDS without a ticket, as they may be refused entry.  Today sees 140 awards handed out to students, with one of the 550 projects to be given the top prize.
