Local Sinn Fein TD has called for the Government to restore the training allowance for disabled students

A local Sinn Fein TD has called for the Government to restore the training allowance for disabled students.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said financial saving of the payment is same compared to the benefits the rehabilitative training allowance for young disabled people.

The Rehabilitative Training Allowance is worth €31.80 a week and helps support them in progressing to further education, and helps them pay for travel and basic needs to attend training courses.

In a statement to Northern Sound News, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin described it as a “scandalous decision” compared to the spend on the Public Services Card and National Broadband Plan.
