Magheracloone’s All-Ireland dream came to an end on Saturday as Oughterard were deservedly crowned All-Ireland Club Intermediate football champions at Croke Park.
The Galway champions enjoyed a 2-16 to 0-12 final success after a fast starting opening period which saw 18 scores as Oughterard lead 1-10 to seven points.
Eric Lee’s first half goal moving the Galway side into that six point lead
Magheracloone’s had a mountain to climb when they lost the services of defender Michael Jones to a second yellow card in the 47th minute.
They found themselves down to 13 men six minutes later when Ryan Farrelly was shown a black card to go along with a yellow one he had picked up earlier.
In the end it was not to be for the Monaghan champions
